Evolution walks away from Galaxy Gaming acquisition
Evolution has terminated its agreement to acquire Galaxy Gaming, ending a pursuit of the casino games supplier that had run for roughly two years. The deal, valued at around $85m, will not go ahead, according to NEXT.io.
Galaxy Gaming supplies table game content and technology used by land-based and online casinos, so the collapsed merger closes off what would have been a notable consolidation between two established names in the gaming supply chain. No reason for the termination was given in the announcement.
For now, both companies continue to operate independently rather than as a combined entity, leaving the casino games supply market as it was before talks began.
Player angle: Supplier deals like this shape which game studios end up behind the tables and slots you find at your favourite online casino, so it's worth keeping an eye on how the industry consolidates. For the current rankings, see our real money online casinos guide.
