President Donald Trump has suspended his teleprompter operator after reports the staffer placed live bets on what Trump’s speeches would include on prediction platform Kalshi. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is investigating after Kalshi personnel admitted the operator won around $100,000 trading on speech content.
Numerous media outlets, including ABC News, reported Thursday that the staffer was Gabriel Perez, a longtime member of Trump’s team, and that he bet on more than a dozen of Trump’s speeches. The developing reports have focused attention on the overlap between internal staff activity and publicly delivered speeches in the US market.
