Heavily-criticised GSGB reveals problem gambling rate in UK for 2025 was 2.4%

The Gambling Survey for Great Britain (GSGB) reported a 2.4% problem gambling rate in the UK for 2025, the Gambling Commission's publication shows. The heavily-criticised GSGB also found overall participation dipped slightly last year: 59% of adults gambled in the past 12 months, down marginally from 60% a year earlier. That past-year figure is the survey's main measure of participation.

Short-term activity edged down too, with participation measured over the previous four weeks slipping from 48% to 47%. The GSGB frames both annual and four-week participation measures, and the changes reported were marginal rather than dramatic, describing a small retreat in gambling activity in Great Britain alongside the headline problem-gambling rate recorded for 2025.
