Google will tighten gambling ad certification rules from September 2026, according to European Gaming. The update extends stricter eligibility checks introduced in March to every category covered by Google’s gambling and games, moving the March measures from a narrower scope to full coverage across the company’s defined categories.

European Gaming published the report on 15 July 2026. With the checks applied to every covered category from September 2026, operators and the ads they run on Google’s gambling and games space will face the broader eligibility screening, and players may see changes to the adverts served on Google platforms as a result.
